This is the first big update we’re bringing to the game and we’re excited to introduce a new Headquarters level for you to get your hands on and explore what new cards and strategies will emerge! We’re also bringing you our first round of balance changes which you can read about in full detail here. This update also contains a variety of game improvements and bug fixes which should help provide a better gaming experience.
With this update, we are introducing Headquarters 9 which we have named “Battle Tempo”. Unlocking this new Headquarters level makes four new cards available for you to unlock, including:
In a world filled with combat, Booster is an island of positive vibes. The sound of her battle bugle increases movement speed, reload speed, attack damage, rate of fire of all friendly troops, vehicles & defenses in range.
Well armored and capable of spewing bullets at an incredible rate, Gatling Trucks are extra effective against enemy infantry. Get in there and mow them down, soldier!
Any friendly troops inside a Battle Boost’s area of effect will deal more damage and move, shoot, and reload faster. The effect works on vehicles and defenses too, just don’t ask how.
Only the best Grunts get into Elite Armor and only the best Elites get to serve inside the Grunt Post! The grunt will bravely defend the base with boosted range and fire rate and jump out to patrol the area once the building is down.
Also, in this update we’re adding in the Repair Laser which is unlockable at HQ7.
Repair Laser restores hit points to friendly vehicles and buildings. Kinda like battlefield duct tape, but hi-tech. It’s twice as effective on vehicles so bring your Tank around.
Game Changes and Fixes
We’ve tweaked the Stars Pool system so that the maximum cap on Stars is going up from 20 to 50.
Reduced Star Pool refill time from 4 hours to 2.5 hours.
You may also notice you earn more Stars from battles.
Increased the maximum Card level from 10 to 11.
We’ve added Spawn Zone invulnerability - no more spawn camping!
4x4 now has a radio which you can control as the driver and select from three tracks. Don’t worry, passengers can also jam out with you!
We’ve removed the Big Box and Mega Box and have introduced two new boxes in their place: the Premium Box and the Quickdraw Box.
Premium Boxes can now be found in the Beach Pass premium track.
We’ve put in some fixes for Matchmaking which should reduce the number of times you find yourself in uneven matches.
We’ve also improved backfilling into matches which should help reduce the number of times you join a game that is close to ending.
Improved bots AI for a better playing experience.
We’ve adjusted the coin payouts along with free boxes content in-game as we found them to be slightly too generous.
Bug Fix: Fixed a bug where the cost of rebuilding a defense did not update in the user interface.
Squad and Friend Improvements
With this update, we’ve made it easier to manage your squad, send and reject invites, and see the online status of your friends. These changes have us asking ourselves how we were playing without them before. We’ve also added a feature to the end of battle leaderboards that allows you to directly add anyone from the battle you enjoyed playing with or against!
We have added three new maps for you to discover. They are listed below:
- Blue Lagoon
- Three Isle Island
- Tetra Island
Moving forward, our second season of the now aptly named Beach Pass called Hunting Season is about to begin. This season will run from December 1st to January 1st and features all the same bonuses of the Beach Pass from the previous season with some new rewards up for grabs which include two new Cards: the Tank Hunter and Baby Boom.
Tank Hunters are fast-moving vehicles that are perfect for blasting armored enemies like, well… Tanks. Warning: Fragile, keep away from Zookas.
A portable cannon that targets armored enemies and can deal damage from long distances. How safe you feel carrying a Boom Cannon around in your pocket is up to you.
All Beach Pass exclusive content will become unlockable in-game in other ways at a future time.
News on Soft Launch
We know many of you are asking about when Boom Beach: Frontlines will be available in new regions, so the team wanted to share a quick update on that with you:
In our path towards a Global Launch, we will be releasing new updates that focus on gameplay improvements and creating more features for players to enjoy, along with continued monthly Season Passes. While it's definitely in our plans to open the game in more countries during soft-launch, we want to ensure that our game is in the best state possible for these new users and you can expect further details on new countries to be released in Q2 2022.
Nonetheless, if you’re really looking forward to trying Boom Beach: Frontlines, you’ll still have the chance to get early access to the game by registering on this Early Access Form and we’ll pick a small group of players on a regular basis to join the game, so stay tuned for that!
That's it, Commander! We hope you enjoy the update and we look forward to hearing your thoughts about it. If you have any feedback for us, feel free to share it on our Discord server or join the conversation on our Twitter!
